NEW JERSEY REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Salesperson
In order to obtain a sales license in real estate, it is required that the applicant be at least 18 years of age, and have a high school diploma or equivalent. The applicant must complete a 75-hour course before application, and then pass the licensing examination. The applicant must then apply for the license through a sponsoring broker.

 

Broker
A real estate broker applicant must be at least 21 years of age. The applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and have been a licensed sales person for the three years immediately preceeding application as a full time employee of a broker. In addition, the applicant must have completed 150 hours of course instruction, consisting of 90 hours of general real estate, 30 hours of Agency and Ethics, and 30 hours of Office Management and related topics. The applicant must then pass the Brokers exam.

 

Already licensed in another state?
New Jersey does not have reciprocity with any state, so applicants must fill all requirements regardless of any current licensure.

 

SCREENING QUESTIONS:

 

NOTE: All applicants must answer the following questions for the New Jersey Real estate Commision to determine if they are fit to be licensed as a real estate agent or broker. Faliure to fully disclose all pertinant infomation could result in refusal or loss of real estate license in New Jersey. Each applicant will be given the opportunity on the first day of class to review these screening questions. Any applicant who believes that they are not eligible for licensure may cancel in accordance with the school policy below.

 

  1. With the exception of motor vehicle violations, have you ever been convicted of a crime, misdemeanor, or disorderly persons offense in the state of New Jersey, any other state or by the federal government, or are you presently on probation or parole ?
  2. Is there a criminal complaint, disorderly persons charge, a criminal accusation or criminal information presently pending against you or are you presently under indictment in New Jersey, any other state or by the federal government, or are you presently enrolled in New Jersey's Pre-Trail Intervention(PTI) program or any similar State or Federal program involving the deferral of the disposition or sentencing in a criminal matter ?
  3. Have you ever had a real estate or other professional license, certification, or similar credential revoked, suspended, surrendered in lieu of formal prosecution, or denied in New Jersey or any other state ?
  4. Do you have a child support obligation on which there is an arrearage due that equals or exceeds the amount of child support payable for six months, or are you the subject of a child support related warrant, or during the past six moths have you failed to provide any court ordered health care coverage, or have you failed to respond to a subpoena relating to a paternity or child support hearing ?
  5. Are you UNDER the age of 18 at the time of taking this examination ?
  6. Do you now hold, or have ever held, ANY license issued by the New Jersey Real Estate Commission?
  7. Are you a high school graduate or holder of a GED ?
  8. Do you currently hold a real estate license issued by another state ?

    SCHOOL POLICY

     

    1. At the start of the first class session, students will be asked to review the "Special Questions Form."  Students who discover that they may be disqualified from obtaining a real estate license based upon their answers to such screening questions, will be allowed to withdraw from class at that time.   After this point, no refunds will be given.
    2. Every student must sign this policy indicating that they have reviewed the "Special Questions Form" and have been given the opportunity to withdraw from the class after such review with a full refund, providing all school materials are returned.  Students will be given a copy of their signed policy.
    3. Students must attend 80% of class time in order to be eligible for a certification of completion.
    4. Students must obtain a score of 75% to pass the class test and be eligible for a certificate of completion.
    5. Students failing the class test may retest for no additional charge.  All retests must be scheduled with the Instructor at mutually agreed upon times/dates.  Students may only retest within 30 days after the end of their class session.
    6. Tuition/Fees:
      1. Pre-Licensing (Sales):

                       i.      The tuition for the Real Estate Pre-Licensing (Sales) class is $399.00

                       ii.      Books and materials for the Real Estate Real Estate Pre-Licensing (Sales) class are $30.00.

      1. Brokers Licensing:

                        i.      The tuition for the Real Estate Brokers Licensing (90hr) class is $1200.

                        ii.      The tuition for the Real Estate Brokers Business Management class is $600.

                        iii.      The tuition for the Real Estate Brokers Ethics class is $400.

                        iv.      Brokers class textbooks and materials for each section are $40.00 (total $120 for all three sections).

      1. Review Classes:

                         i.      Review classes are $40.00 per every 60 minute of scheduled class time (i.e., a 2 hour Review Calls would be $80).
